Tikonata Island is located on the southern tip of the peninsula of Capachica, northwest of the city of Puno and off the islands of Taquile and Amantaní.

To this paradise can be accessed either by land or by lake: By land from Puno heading to the peninsula of Capachica, arriving to the town center of Ccotos and the white sand beach of Chifron, from where You can board a boat that will take us to the island of Tikonata. This whole trip can be covered in an approximate 2 and a half hours.

By lake route we depart from the pier of the city of Puno and cross the bay of the same name to enter the "Big Lake" and thus reach the island of Tikonata. All this way can be covered in 3 hours of standard boat or 1:45 hours in speedboat.

The inhabitants of the island of Tikonata are Quechuas who maintain their ancestral traditions and wisdom, which are manifested in their ritual ceremonies and social organization. They are mainly engaged in agriculture, livestock, fishing and handicrafts.

The attractions we can visit on this island include a Tiahuanaco museum with archaeological remains, caves with pre-Inca mummies and fossil remains.
