This peaceful population is also called the Pink City because of the color that painted all the houses using a special clay (Chocorosi) that abounds in the area.

The city offers interesting attractions. The first is a temple erected under the patronage of St. James with a clear influence and Renaissance building which dates from 1678. The architectural complex occupies a block and is built in stone mortar, with carvings on their income, side and main bell tower being located in separate space. The roofs of the nave of the fence, topped with glazed tiles and bright atrium is outlined with carved stone pillars. In a crypt adjacent to the temple, there is a small chapel built on an ossuary, where under a pavilion topped by a bronze replica of the famous carving of Michelangelo's Pieta, the remains of the city benefactor Mr. Enrique Torres Belon . The patron saint of the town is on December 8 in honor of the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception, as a highly venerated image is stored in the temple, which is paraded in a silver litter jealously guarded by the guild of Vicuña Immaculate.
